無病息災とは、病気や災難に遭わずに健康で平穏な暮らしをすることを意味します。日本には古来から病気や災いを退ける神様を祀る神社が数多くありますが、その中でも特に有名な神社をピックアップしてみました。
狭井神社（奈良県）
[狭井神社]
狭井神社は、日本最古の神社として知られる大神神社の本殿から北へ400メートルほどのところにある神社です。力強いご神威から病気平癒・身体健康の神様として知られていて、多くの参拝客が訪れます。
この神社の由来は、天平神護2年（766年）に発生した天然痘の大流行を鎮めるために、当時の天皇である称徳天皇が祈願したところ、神託によってこの地に神社を建立するように命じられたというものです。その後、この神社に祈願した人々は病気から回復し、疫病は収まったと伝えられています。
この神社のご祭神は、天照大神の御子である大己貴命（おおなむちのみこと）と、その妃である少彦名命（すくなひこなのみこと）です。大己貴命は国造りの神、農業神、商業神、医療神でもあり、少彦名命は薬草や温泉の神として知られています。
この神社には、病気平癒のご利益があるとされる「長命水」という井戸があります。この井戸水は、神社の境内にある「狭井の池」という池から湧き出しているといわれています。この池は、神社の創建時に大己貴命が自ら掘ったという伝説があり、その水は不老不死の霊水として信仰されてきました。
この神社には、他にも病気平癒に関係するものが多くあります
